The St. John Bosco Clinic has been in the service of the Miami-Dade community for over 28 years. It’s central mission, to provide primary care medical assistance to the uninsured, and all those in need in our community, regardless of race, age, gender, ethnicity, or religious affiliation, in the way that Christ, our healer, taught us.
The St. John Bosco Clinic was first established under the leadership of Dr. Pedro Jose Greer, then a member of the American Association of the Order of Malta, and was operated with the cooperation of the Mercy Hospital, followed by the Sisters of St. Joseph, who continue this worthy cause. Doctors from the Cuban Association have assisted the clinic since its inception, and continue to donate their time and expertise under the leadership of our Hospitaler.
The clinic sees an average of 977 patients per year and has approximately 6,500 medical visits. The average cost for each patient is $500 per year. The clinic is financed through local support, grants, and gifts. The programs offered include child services, adolescent services, breast cancer screening, and diagnostic procedures, women’s services, patient education, diabetes education and treatment, pharmacy, internal medicine, and specialty care including cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary, to name a few.
Throughout the year, the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta hosts various events to help gain support, both volunteer and monetary, for these projects.
