Financial Information

The Cuban Association established in 1993 the Foundation Order of Malta, Inc. to facilitate the funding of its projects. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Florida. The annual financial statements of the Foundation are audited, and the Foundation has been awarded the Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency.

The Foundation is listed in the Official Catholic Directory as an agency of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States under the Archdioceses of Miami, and possess a 501(c)3 designation from the IRS.

The Cuban Association: Founded in 1952 in Cuba, later moved its headquarters to Miami, Florida after the Communist Revolution of 1959. With over 200 Knights, Dames, and volunteers in Florida, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Haiti, the Association is entirely dedicated to helping the poor, sick, and incarcerated, giving witness to the Catholic faith.

The Order of Malta has been a Catholic religious order since 1113, the year it was recognized by Pope Paschal II. As a religious order, its members required to maintain exemplary Christian behavior in their private and public life, contributing to the maintenance of the Order’s traditions.

Members of the Order of Malta are called to put their spirituality in action in service of the poor and the sick. Their work is manifested in the association’s medical and food projects in South Florida, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean Basin.

The Cuban Association of the Order of Malta hosts several events throughout the year dedicated to the spiritual enrichment of its members, provide service to those in need, and to raise funds for its charitable work.

The Order of Malta is permanently present with medical, social and humanitarian projects in most countries in the world.
